Stevenson Does Dallas... AVID
I am so proud of all of the teachers that have joined us at the AVID conference in Dallas. Talk about embracing the concepts! This is the beginning to the change that we all want to see... RIGOR... YEAH! We have four department chairs with us (Tan, Martin, Rodriguez, F. & Ramirez, R.). They are taking the bull by the horns (I think Dallas has inspired that phrase :) ) Our goal this week is three fold... AVID Site team continues working on their plan, History, 6th grade & ESL are looking at working with their team members to embrace best practices and finally a plan to go SCHOOL WIDE - how awesome is that... I am really excited to see so much love for teaching, for the kids, and for making Stevenson a school of excellence...

I want to thank all of the teachers at Stevenson who went on this trip. I feel that despite all of the changes that we will experience next year, we will be able to see some real good changes for our kids. All of you have shown me that as a campus we can become a family.
Oh and today is my B-day so wish we luck with the gifts.
Happy B-day Tan! I hope you had a wonderful day.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who went on this trip. Your dedication and hard work to teaching were most evident. I'm sure that when the training ended, we all walked away with at least a handful of new strategies that would help make us better teachers. However, if we continue to work collaboratively and combine what we've learned, instead of us working individually, our students are going to benefit most greatly. As for myself, I'm really looking forward to employing a couple new strategies (i.e. Cornell and WICR) to enhance student learning. Aside from the knowledge I've gained through this training, I've also learned a lot about each one of you. It was nice to have a normal conversation without worrying about the bell schedule, an errand you had to do, or attend a meeting that you're already late for. To me, this trip was less like a training and more like a retreat. It was relaxing; I connected with some of you more personally; and I came away excited about the upcoming school year! I've also learned that while some of you work hard, you also play hard. Which is GOOD!
Hi Hai:
You are so right it did feel like a retreat... I do hope we can keep the good times going.. It is nice to relax with our colleagues, learnin about each person
